Sie fährt teilweise auf eigener unabhängiger Trasse (z.B. Tunnel), teilweise auf eigener Trasse im Straßenraum oder neben der Straße und zu einem kleinen Teil auf der Straße. Der wesentliche Unterschied ist, dass die Stadtbahn an vielen Stellen im normalen Straßenraum (auf oder neben der Fahrbahn) fährt und kreuzt. Die Kreuzungen sind häufig mit normalen Ampeln geregelt. Die Fahrzeuge sind entsprechend ausgerüstet, z.B. Blinker.</p>

Das ist so nicht richtig. Auf der Strecke der S1 zwischen Bahrenfeld und Wedel fuhren früher auch Güterzüge und auf der Strecke Ohlsdorf-Poppenbüttel wurden während der Schneekatastrophe Ende der 70er Personenzüge und 1 Schienenbus eingesetzt, weil die S-Bahnen an der Stromschiene festfroren. Die S2 fuhr zwischen Bergedorf und Berliner Tor vor der Wiedervereinigung auf den gleichen Gleisen wie die Fernbahn.</p>
