Hallo,

hier ist die Mail, die er an die OSMF geschickt hat. Ich find das
etwas seltsam, wieso machen irgendwelche Berliner Hacker da was und
schreiben nichtmal auf die talk-de Liste? Hat es Sinn, sich mit denen in
Verbindung zu setzen? Mag sich jemand drum kuemmern?

Dear Technical Working Group,

we are a group of students located and organized in a "hacker space"
called spline at the Free University in Berlin and we would like to
contribute to osm in as many ways as possible. As starting point we
would like to setup an osm tile cache for global use and possible
integration into the official tile infrastructure. So far we have got a
connection to the x-win research network through the university and a
server [1] without memory. At the moment we are searching for a way to
get 16GB of memory but I am confident that we will be fit for service
after this in a few days.

Would be nice if you can give us some input about our idea and the
possibility to get part of the tile cache and how to contribute best.
Feel free to ask for more information. Perhaps you have any idea where
to get 400€ for 16GB of memory :)

Thanks for your time.

Best regards

Philipp
